The benefits of working with consciousness in spiritual practice

I generally see three main groups of people in the spiritual scene:
There are those who look for spiritual experiences and seek ways to improve their life. They like the blissful expanded feelings certain practices bring them and revel in the insights gained. They may occasionally delve into the darker corner of their psyche but usually only on retreat - then they go back to their lives and repeat all the same patterns as before.
There are those who become dedicated to spiritual growth, making it a daily orientation. They recognise that life creates from consciousness because they've experienced it. In order to maintain an expanded state, they need to first dive into and process out the depths of karma and density. They are dedicated, yet the consciousness of everyday society often still pulls them in. So, they feel an increasing gap between how society wants them to be and how their soul does.
Some few have done enough inner consciousness work and are orientated to higher dimensional consciousness all the time (I have been lucky enough to meet a few during my life). They are completely embodied and yet see reality as more wave-like, perceiving the various dimensions of existence all at the same time.
If you're reading this article then you likely find yourself in either the first or second category. It's ok to be completely honest with yourself about it. That's the only place from which true transformation is possible.
So, with all the self-help and healing work out there, why is consciousness work the most powerful? Well, the short answer is that everything is consciousness! I'm going to assume I don't need to convince you of this. So, if all is brought into existence from consciousness, then surely that's the realm where we need to be to see the most profound inner growth.
I see a lot of emphasis on the physical and emotional in spiritual communities. Yoga, sexual/intimacy work, dance. It's all powerful because it gets us to be consciously in touch with those aspects of us. We can learn a lot about ourselves.

Then, some people include energy work in their offerings; Kundalini activation, shadow work and manifestation practices. All can be powerful, yet also even dangerous if held by people who haven't worked on their own distortions/karma. Energy work is essential. However, I often see it done as a means to something else; becoming more 'enlightened' or creating a desirable life. Energy work is not about forcing, but rather enhancing an experience or process that is already naturally happening.
The consciousness work that I'm talking about incorporates all these levels, but then works to transcend them. We're not denying the physical, human parts of ourselves or the energetic, we're just orientating ourselves in the realms that are beyond that.
Here are 5 benefits of this kind of work:
You're less affected by what happens in everyday life. There's not so much triggering and if there is, you work through it quickly. You are fully in the everyday physical life, but not of it.
You're able to hold a lot more energy. That means that you don't get overwhelmed so easily. You can be present in the light and the density. This means that you make more empowered decisions based on where your soul is taking you rather than seeking pleasure/avoiding pain.
Other dimensions of reality become available to you. Your consciousness pipe expands, meaning you're able to perceive the more subtle realms of existence. Life seems much more magical!
Your spiritual soul gifts start to shine through. After some time of working through identity and karma, your soul will have enough free flow through your system to open up. Gifts such as intuitive knowing, empathic connection with other spirits, reading of the higher flow and of other peoples fields start to kick in. Now you can use these gifts to be of divine service.
This might or might not be mind based. You will start to get a profound sense of how life functions in terms of energy. If somebody was to explain quantum mechanics to you, you would say "that makes total sense!" This makes you appear wise to others even though you aren't trying to be.

So, my work is all about shifts in consciousness. That's where the real transformation takes place. Not as amazingly powerful one-time breakthroughs (though certainly people experience very powerful breakthroughs and initiations in this work). Rather it's in the progressive breakdown of the identities and wounds that keep you small and embodied expansion into the higher densities of reality.
There is a great shift taking place. I feel more and more parting between the simulated societal construct and the new energies coming into our solar system. This is going to make regular societal living harder and harder for those dedicated to conscious living. That's ok. We'll be at the forefront of the shift, illuminating the way. Feeling the magic of a new paradigm of living and relating.
